The Surra Maps emblem is a heraldic cross enclosing the four ancient Giudicati of medieval Sardinia: four independent kingdoms that governed the island for centuries, each with its own identity, culture and emblem.
The medieval kingdom of north-west Sardinia (Logudoro). Its tower symbolises the defensive strength of a land that resisted invasions for centuries, guardian of Nuragic and Romanesque traditions.
The rooster, emblem of the north-eastern giudicato, represents the vigilance and pride of a land of granite and sea. Gallura maintained its autonomy until 1288.
The most powerful of the four giudicati. From Oristano, Eleonora d'Arborea promulgated the Carta de Logu (1392), one of Europe's earliest law codes. The olive tree symbolises wisdom and peace.
The Giara pony, emblem of the southern giudicato, still roams the basalt plateau today. Wild and untamed, it embodies the free spirit of the island.
Join those who go beyond the surface. The island has so much more to show.
